How to make some sounds from Levon Vincent 'Man Or Mistress' in DRC

Published on

Levon Vincent is not short of confidence. Not afraid of hard graft, years of gigging and bedroom based production has built up a steady resilience to negativity. But at the same time, heā€™s also a deep thinker, somebody who makes a conscientious effort to remain grounded and humble. When working for an engineer of Steve Reich's, Levon took the plunge to share his personal productions with his colleague, only to be met with the harsh critique ā€˜If you werenā€™t in the room, I would throw this disc in the garbageā€™. What doesnā€™t kill you makes you stronger, and the effects were two-fold; a thicker skin against criticism and an increased desire to have complete confidence in everything he produced from then on.

It certainly didn't knock his confidence though, especially his thoughts about the track featured in this weekā€™s DRC Sound Design Tutorial, which he described before release as a track that would make people ā€˜shit themselvesā€™. Weā€™re not entirely sure about the laxative properties of 2011ā€™s ā€˜Man or Mistressā€™ but we can show you how to make some of the sounds from the track for you to decide for yourself!
